We are delighted to welcome visitors to the School, and there are various ways for you and your family to experience Michael Hall. We offer four different opportunities; Early Years Open Morning, Whole school Open Morning, Private Tours and A Day in the Classroom. All of them give different insights into the School and our educational approach, and while we suggest you experience all four, an Open Morning is a great place to start.
If you are not sure which route is most suitable for you, please email our Admissions Team and we would be happy to discuss this with you. All visitors should view our Safeguarding booklet for Visitors and sign the COVID-19 Visitors Agreement before arriving.
Early Years Open Mornings (9:30am – 11:30am) postponed until further notice
An Early Years Open Morning offers an opportunity to visit the homely Kindergarten rooms and meet the Kindergarten teachers to discuss any questions you may have. A talk will be given by one of our Kindergarten teachers at 10:00 and during that time there will be another Kindergarten space available where your child can play but they must be accompanied by an adult at all times. There will also be time after to have refreshments and mingle with other parents. The Mansion Market takes place on the same day as Early Years Open Mornings between 11:00 and 16:00, which you are welcome to visit following the Open Morning.
The next Early Years Open Morning is will be announced in the Autumn Term. On arrival please follow the directions from the main Car Park to the Kindergarten.
Whole School Open Mornings (8:30am – 12:00am) postponed until further notice
There’s no better introduction to both Michael Hall and Waldorf education than an Open Morning, offering an opportunity to see students at work and play, tour our facilities and listen to one or both of our talks. We recommend that you come for the duration of the morning. If you cannot, please plan your visit according to the areas that most interest you as outlined in the timetable below.
The next Whole School Open Morning will be announced once large groups are allowed to meet again.
Please note you must stay with Open Morning staff at all times and leave the grounds by 12:15. Please no photography at any time – thank you.
A Private Tour
A personal tour can be arranged for you and your child(ren) if you wish. All tours take place during term times and in the mornings only. You will be able to visit the Kindergarten, Lower School or Upper School, or all three if you wish. The tour takes up to an hour and a half. The School buildings are scattered around the grounds so please be prepared for the weather with coats, appropriate footwear and umbrellas as necessary.
Please email the Admissions Team to arrange a Private Tour.
A Day in the Classroom (8:15am – 1:00pm)
The Day in the Classroom Programme is open to all parents, teachers and any adult that is interested in learning more about our wide-ranging curriculum. The day offers an exceptional opportunity to experience a typical day in the life of a Michael Hall Lower School pupil. You will be treated just like a student with a snapshot of the current curriculum being taught to a particular class by the class teachers themselves. The days are immense fun, and most of the parents enjoy it so much that they are loathe to leave at the end of the day.
The next Day in the Classroom will be announced in the Autumn Term.
Parent & Child Trial Session
We run Parent & Child Groups from 10:00 to 12:15 every Monday to Friday during term time. These sessions provide a space for parents and children aged birth to 3 years to meet socially and creatively. Activities include free play, simple seasonal crafts & baking, seasonal songs & ring games and outdoor play and walks.
For the rising 3 years and above there is an opportunity to join the transition group which works towards helping children and parents with the next stage in preparation for Kindergarten.
For more information or to arrange a free trail session with your child please enter your details in the form below and we’ll get back to as soon as possible.
