29th November 2024

Dear Michael Hall Community,

Only a week ago, the School was a bustling place of activity and hard work in preparation for the Advent Fair. An enormous ‘Thank you’ to everyone for your time, cheerfulness and hard work. Despite the inclement weather, the fair was well attended and significant funds were raised, which Colin Fullbrook our Head of Finance will update you on before too long. THANK YOU!

This week we look towards Advent and on Sunday, Classes 1, 2 and 9 will celebrate with their Advent play and walk the Advent Spiral, reminding us that we are entering a time of preparation. The world of nature is outwardly slowing down, the leaves have fallen (maybe collected and on compost heaps), it is colder with shorter days, bulbs and seeds are underground or patiently waiting whilst we get ready for Midwinter, all helping us to turn inwards or inside and carve out a moment of quiet …… Easy to say in this ever-faster world which we live in and it seems to be speeding up.

As we approach Advent, a time of waiting, preparation, patience and expectation, let us try and find some stillness and gratitude for this precious moment as it reminds us of qualities to consider in the four weeks till Christmas, of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.

Advent blessings,

Jacqueline Courtenay
Head of Lower and Middle School

Adult Movement and Games

Every Wednesday 8.15-9.10am- Enjoy a mid-week movement boost in good company.  We will combine rhythmic warm ups (skipping, juggling) with a variety of games and sports.  You will get an insight into aspects of the Waldorf Movement Curriculum and explore the original Bothmer Exercises, which reflect certain core principles which underpin our work.  These are drop-in sessions and all are welcome along with any questions that you may have.  Please bring a pair of clean indoor trainers and meet at reception by 8.15am.  We hope to build a strong group.

Warm Wishes, Arthur
On behalf of The Gym Team

Accomodation wanted

We are relocating from stunning Western Australia and Yallingup Steiner school where our daughter has attended, to join Michael Hall from January 2025. Currently looking for accommodation to help us settle in Forest Row or the surrounding areas. We are arriving in London from Australia on 16 December. We have great references from previous rentals both in Australia and in the UK. Please contact Kasia [email protected] or Martin [email protected] if you may have a one or two bedroom, temporary or more permanent accommodation. Thank you.

Hello, my name is Karla Hennig, I am 17 years old and attend a Waldorf school in Lübeck. Next summer from 30.06.2025 for two months to I have to do a social internship. My idea is to spend this time as an au-pair in England. I would like to live in a Waldorf family and take care of the little children and improve my English.
I have two younger brothers, a younger sister and an older sister. My hobbies are cooking and baking and I love spending time with my friends. If you are interested, I would love to hear from you! [email protected]
Many greetings, Karla Hennig
