Friday Flyer - 21st March 2025
Dear Michael Hall Community,
We are now two thirds of the way through the school year and approaching the hope filled Easter holiday. Easter brings the end of the Lenten "fasting" period and nowadays this tends to involve chocolate gluttony. However, it can be healthy indulgence instead which brings me neatly to our wonderful garden and kitchen here at Michael Hall. Our smiling, earth loving biodynamic gardener, Darshan is selling spring produce which is all looking bonny and delicious in the garden and nursery tunnels and Lee, our chef is continuing to delight us with his healthy organic lunches. Please do sign up for these, they can be booked from our website under the "Parents, School Lunches" section.
Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy the visual feast of this, our weekly newsletter of school offerings.
Wishing you a bonny weekend,
With warm regards,
Emmeline Hawker
Acting Principal

Jessika Hulbert
I was born in Blackheath, South London, moving to Forest Row in 1975 where I spent the rest of my childhood. I attended Michael Hall from age 8 – 18. I have very fond memories of this time.
I have 4 children and a much-loved whippet/lurcher called Blue. We keep chickens and ducks at home, and I love spending time in my garden. I keep bees, which I find a very good match for the other more serious side of my life. I am married to Peter, an architect.
My "day job" is as a Celebrant, officiating ceremonies such as weddings and funerals and alongside this I am a District Councillor for the Green Party, representing Withyham Ward. I was elected Chair of Wealden District Council in February 2024, which is a huge honour, and sees me representing our District at official functions throughout the South East.

Upper School Spring Festival 2025 - Wednesday 26th March 7pm Theatre
The Upper School Faculty wishes to invite you to this year’s Spring Festival which will be held on Wednesday 26th March at 7pm in the Theatre. We open the Festival up to anyone of Class 8 age and older and we look forward to welcoming you to this celebration of our students. Please do not bring younger children to this event.
All Upper School students are participating in the Festival and the Upper School Choir is busy preparing choral pieces for the occasion. We are thrilled to announce that one item will be the World Premier of Paul Carr's 'I Look Into the World' which has been written especially for the students and teachers of Michael Hall in celebration of our centenary. Paul is an alumnus of Michael Hall and we are including another of his songs in our programme on Wednesday.
Please note that all Upper School students should return to school by 6.30pm and assemble in the Dick Chester to warm up their voices prior to the event. .
The dress code is as follows: black and white in any combination with black or very dark shoes and, if possible, a touch of green.
Best wishes,
Julian Rolton and Thackery Davis
