Early Childhood Advent

To start each week of Advent, the whole school from Class 1 to Class 12 meet in the theatre to have an assembly.  Within this assembly, from a central flame, each class lights their own candle to be brought back to their rooms.  Early Childhood receives their flame from Class 12 who deliver it to our building, while singing carols to each room, one after another. This special tradition at Michael Hall connects us as a community, from the first years to the last.  When the youngest children see the oldest, they are in awe and wonder of these "big people visiting and singing" as one child so beautifully put it.  For some of the Class 12 students, returning to where they started with us, and to see the journey ahead of the children they are singing to, allows the spark of experiential wisdom that is reflected in the gaze of the young children looking at them with adoration.

It is a cherished moment in the rhythm of our lives as we celebrate festivals together as a community.
