Eurythmy Festival

This year’s eurythmy festival took place last week. Classes 3 to 8 shared work from all aspects of their eurythmy lessons. It was an opportunity for older classes to look back on work they remember, and for younger ones to catch a glimpse of what they may achieve in the future. The students shared coordination and rod exercises, classic choreography and their own choreography to music pieces and poetry. The festival flowed beautifully and each class had something special to share. There was great skill and focus in many places, from the smooth way classes entered the stage with grace and confidence to find their places, to a little story told with gestures of a seed growing, and the silent motion of copper rods and they passed from pupil to pupil and hand to hand. The Class 8 pupils ended the festival with a mesmerizing sequence, some of it in dim lighting with luminescent markings on their clothing that highlighted their movements of precisely choregraphed jumps and steps. Mrs Howlett shared at the start of the festival how the work of the pupils in eurythmy can only be seen in person and this festival shows this work, and their journey and progress through the lower class years beautifully, it was a joy to watch.
