Class 7b Renaissance

Class 7b were learning about the Renaissance in their last main lesson block. As part of this, they learnt about Michelangelo and how he painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, lying on his back on scaffold. They, in turn, had a lesson lying on their backs and drew the 'Hand of God' to experience what this may have been like.

To end the block, the class also visited the National Gallery, were they looked in detail at works by Rapheal, Michelangelo, and Leonardo. They also saw art from other Renaissance artists. On their way back to the train station, the class stopped off in Parliament Square and had some pre-learning for class 8, by looking at several statues and hearing a bit about Millicent Fawcett (the leader of the Suffragette movement), Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela.
