Staff

Our staff enjoy the unique international community and environment of Michael Hall School, that aims to create a culture of mutual respect, tolerance and fraternity. We are committed to continuing professional development of all our staff and to training new teachers.

The Teachers at Michael Hall School are responsible for delivering the Steiner Waldorf curriculum to the students, guiding the children to investigate core subjects such as language, history, maths, science and geography through creativity and imagination. They aim to:

  • Clearly communicate with students, colleagues and parents
  • Commit to each student individually, throughout their years of school
  • Create lively, interactive lesson plans
  • Push themselves to grow and constantly question their teaching methods
  • Push beyond their comfort zones
  • Think outside the box
  • Inspire their students to keep progressing

Our Administration team works together to support the teachers, and the maintenance and kitchen staff work to ensure a smooth functioning of daily operations of the School.

Jacqueline Courtenay

Assistant Principal

Jacqueline came to Michael Hall in 2005 as a Class teacher, taking over a class 4 after having moved to Sussex from Oxfordshire in 2004 with her family. Both daughters joined the school in their respective classes for class 4 and class 5, staying for the remainder of their school years, both completing class 12.

After training as a mainstream teacher, Jacqueline built on this foundation to become a Steiner/Waldorf teacher on the LWTTTS course in London, graduating in 2004. During her final year of training she took on a position as a Class teacher in the Reading Steiner school before moving to Forest Row where she has been for the last 15 years.

She is passionate about Steiner Waldorf curriculum and the ideals of how it supports the young unfolding child as they develop into adulthood.

In the spring of 2020, Jacqueline was appointed Assistant Principal at Michael Hall, which has been an extremely rewarding experience. Keeping Michael Hall a world shining light in Steiner Waldorf Education is her vision for the future.
