Staff

Our staff enjoy the unique international community and environment of Michael Hall School, that aims to create a culture of mutual respect, tolerance and fraternity. We are committed to continuing professional development of all our staff and to training new teachers.

The Teachers at Michael Hall School are responsible for delivering the Steiner Waldorf curriculum to the students, guiding the children to investigate core subjects such as language, history, maths, science and geography through creativity and imagination. They aim to:

  • Clearly communicate with students, colleagues and parents
  • Commit to each student individually, throughout their years of school
  • Create lively, interactive lesson plans
  • Push themselves to grow and constantly question their teaching methods
  • Push beyond their comfort zones
  • Think outside the box
  • Inspire their students to keep progressing

Our Administration team works together to support the teachers, and the maintenance and kitchen staff work to ensure a smooth functioning of daily operations of the School.

James Angus

Vice Chair - Resources Committee

A parent of two children at the school, James joined as a Trustee in 2022 to offer his expertise in financial and business related matters. Having graduated from Exeter University in Politics and Economic History, James has worked in Banking for over 20 years across roles in Finance, Corporate Strategy and, for the majority of his career, Credit Restructuring working with Corporate and Investment Banking clients for a major UK Bank.  New to Steiner Waldorf, James and his wife Simone (a clinical psychologist and trauma therapist) were inspired by the approach Waldorf education is taking to children’s’ education through a developmentally appropriate approach to learning, and to supporting children, which goes far beyond the academic.  This fosters an intrinsic motivation to learn and to love learning.  James’ oldest son has painfully experienced how mainstream education was making him anxious and disliking school, and the move to Michael Hall has transformed his educational experience.  James has a keen interest in supporting the school to flourish and grow so that others may benefit in the same way.  As a qualified Accountant, James is a new member of the schools’ Resources Committee.  Other interests include chess, a variety of sports, family walks and photography.
