Term dates and school day
The schedule for the year can be seen both via the Calendar and the overall term via the Term Dates. The school day starts at 8:15 for Lower and Upper School and 8:30 for Kindergarten. The Kindergarten day finishes at 12:30, with Upper School finishing at 4:00. The Lower School finishes at 3:15 everyday for Classes 3-8, and finishes at 12:15 on Tuesday & Thursday for Class 2, and also on Monday (until summer term) and Friday for Class 1.
While everyone is encouraged to walk, bike, take the bus, or lift share, we also provide a School Bus from Brighton, Tunbridge Well and East Grinstead. Existing parents can request the service via the Parent Portal.
School lunches are unavailable until further notice
School lunches are optional and consist of a hot two-courses (organic where possible) and are available in the Canteen, with a seven to nine day menu cycle that changes each Half Term. This ensures a variety of foods for the children. Lunch Booking Form.
The cost is £3.80 per lunch for Classes 1-5 and £4.50 per lunch for Classes 6 upwards. Lunch can also be booked as a one off providing the Reception office is notified by 10.30 am on the day lunch is required, at a cost of £4.75. Booking is via reception, please email them with your request.
Dietary requirements arising from medical needs or ethical or religious beliefs will be accommodated.
There are four clubs offered by the school; Kindergarten afternoon club, Afternoon club, homework, and after school gym club.
The Kindergarten afternoon club runs from 12:30pm to 3:30pm and more details can be found in the booking form.
Afternoon club is organised for children in Classes 1 – 2 who would like to come on the half days. They are able to enjoy playing in small groups and usually some outdoor games and will also partake in seasonal art and craft projects. More information can be found in the Afternoon Club Booking Form.
The Homework club runs from 3.15 – 4pm, and is a place to support families of staff, siblings waiting for older children to finish school, parents needing to meet with a teacher, children travelling by bus or AD-Hoc emergencies. Please write to Reception with your request to book.
The after school Gym club has the following schedule for Autumn Term, and you more information included in the gym form.
Starting Class 3 all children participate in the Gym program, the Gym Kit page explains the necessary attire.
Leave of absence
All requests for leave of absence during term time should be made by email to [email protected], or in writing to Reception. We require two weeks’ notice for requests for them not be counted as unauthorised, and we will ensure a timely reply. In line with our Attendance Policy and the Guidance from the Department of Education, absence during term time Term will not be granted for holidays or family celebrations. In instances where there is joint custody both parents will need to be consulted before leave of absence is granted.
In case of sicknesses
- To report a child as absent due to illness, please either email [email protected] or call 01342 822275 and choose option 1 by 08:30. Alternatively, you can leave a message in Reception.
- The registration period closes at 08:30. Any pupil not in School by this time will be marked as an unauthorised absence as per the latest Government Guidelines which we are under a legal obligation to comply with.
- If your child arrives after this time, they need to sign in at Reception. Should your child need to be collected during the School day, they must sign out at and be collected from, Reception. No parents should be within the School grounds outside the permissible collection times unless they have first signed in at Reception and are either DBS checked, or accompanied by a member of staff.
